4/7 How to weep for Allah SWT
![]() |
Desc: 4/7 Thinking about your situation and your boldness in committing sin, and fearing to meet Allah in such a state.
One of the righteous people used to weep night and day, and something was said to him about that. He said: I am afraid that Allah will see me committing sin and will say: Go away from Me for I am angry with you. Hence Sufyaan used to weep and say: I am afraid that my faith will be taken away at the moment of death.
Ismaaeel ibn Zakariya described Habeeb ibn Muhammad, who was a neighbor of his. He said: Every evening I heard him weeping and every morning I heard him weeping, so I went to his wife and said: What is the matter with him? He weeps in the evening and he weeps in the morning! She said to me: By Allah, when evening comes he fears that he will not live till morning and when morning comes he fears that he will not live till evening.
The salaf used to weep and grieve a great deal.
When Yazeed al-Raqaashi was criticized for weeping a great deal and it was said to him, If the Fire had been created exclusively for you, you would not weep more than this, he said: Has the Fire been created for anyone other than me and my companions and brothers among the jinn and mankind?
When Ata al-Sulaymi was asked: What is this grief? he said: Woe to you! Death is close at hand, the grave is my house, on the Day of Resurrection I will stand and my path is over a bridge across Hell, and I do not know what will become of me.
Faddalah ibn Sayfi used to weep a great deal. A man entered upon him when he was weeping and said to his wife: What is the matter with him? She said: He says that he wants to undertake a long journey and he does not have proper provision for it.
One night al-Hasan woke up weeping, and he disturbed the other people in the house with his weeping. They asked him what was the matter and he said: I remembered a sin that I committed and I wept.
It was narrated that Tameem al-Daari (may Allah be pleased with him) recited this verse (interpretation of the meaning): Or do those who earn evil deeds think that We shall hold them equal with those who believe (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds [al-Jaathiyah 45:21] and he started repeating it and weeping until morning came.
Hudhayfah (may Allaah be pleased with him) used to weep intensely, and it was said to him: Why are you weeping? He said: I do not know what is ahead of me Divine pleasure or divine wrath.
Sad ibn al-Akhram said: I was walking with Ibn Masood and he passed by the blacksmiths, who had brought a piece of iron out of the fire. He stood and looked at the molten iron and wept.

RS's Hamid renders Dr Allama Iqbal's 'La ilaha Il Allah'
![]() |
Desc: Ya Rasul-Allah Ya Allah
Although this poetical sermon relates to muslim ummah :-
Muslims have lost the passion of love they had;
They are lily—livered, timid, and weak;
Their prayers are cold, unfelt, distracted rites;
They lack the inward fire of a burning faith.
But there is a lesson for the whole of humanity, especially those who do not fear God.
**********************************************
Translation and meaning:-
Khudi ka sirr-e-nihaaN La ilaha Il Allah
Khudi hai tegh-e-fasaaN, La ilaha Il Allah...
The secret of the Self is hid,
In words "No God but He alone".
The Self is just a dull-edged sword,
"No God but He", the grind stone.
Yeh daur apney "Braheem" ki talaash meiN hai
Sanam-kadah hai jahaaN, La ilaha Il Allah....
An Abraham by the age is sought
To break the idols of this Hall:
The avowal of God's Oneness can
Make all these idols headlong fall.
Kiya hai tuney mata'a-e-gharoor ka sauda
Fareb-e-sood-o-ziyaaN! La ilaha Il Allah...
A bargain you have struck for goods
Of life, a step, that smacks conceit,
All save the Call "No God but He"
Is merely fraught with fraud and deceit
Yeh maal-o-daulat-e-dunya, yeh rishta-o-paiwaNd
Butaan-e-wehm-o-gumaaN! La ilaha Il Allah....
The wordly wealth and riches too,
Ties of blood and friends a dream
The idols wrought by doubts untrue,
All save God's Oneness empty seem.
Khird hui hai zamaan-o-makaan ki zunaari
Na hai zamaaN, na makaaN! La ilaha Il Allah....
The mind has worn the holy thread
Of time and space like pagans all
Though time and space both illusive
"No God but He" is true withal.
Yeh naghma fasl-e-gul-o-laaleh ka nahiN paabaNd
Bahaar ho key khizaaN, La ilaha Il Allah....
These melodious songs are not confined
To time when rose and tulip bloom
Whatever the season of year be
"No God but He" must ring till doom.
Agarchey but haiN jama'at ki aasteenoN meiN
Mujhey hai huq'm-e-azaaN, La ilaha Il Allah....
Many idols are still concealed
In their sleeves by the Faithful Fold
I am ordained by Mighty God
To raise the call and be much bold.

Last Man To Enter Paradise
![]() |
Desc: Narrated Ibn Mas'ud: Verily the Messenger of Allah said: The last to enter Paradise would be a man who would walk once, stumble once and be burnt by the Fire once. Then when he passes beyond it, he will turn to it and say: Blessed is He Who has saved me from thee. Allah has given me something He has not given to any one of those in earlier or later times.
Then a tree would be raised for him and he will say: O my Lord! Bring me near this tree so that I may take shelter in its shade and drink of its water. Allah, the Exalted and Great, would say: O son of Adam, if I grant you this, you will ask Me for something else. He would say: No, my Lord. And he would promise Him that he would not ask for anything else. His Lord would excuse him because He sees what he cannot help desiring; so He would bring him bear it, and he would take shelter in its shade and drink of its water. Afterwards a tree more beautiful than the first would be raised before him and he would say: O my Lord! Bring me near this tree in order that I may drink of its water and take shelter in its shade and I shall not ask Thee for anything else. He (Allah) would say: O son of Adam, if I bring you near it you may ask me for something else. He would promise Him that he would not ask for anything else. His Lord will excuse him because He sees something he cannot help desiring. So He would bring him near it and he would enjoy its shade and drink its water.
Then a tree would be raised for him at the gate of Paradise, more beautiful than the first two. He would say: O my Lord! Bring me near this (tree) so that I may enjoy its shade and drink from its water. I shall not ask Thee for anything else. He (Allah) would say: O son of Adam! Did you not promise Me that you would not ask Me for anything else? He would say: Yes my Lord, but I shall not ask Thee for anything else. His Lord would excuse him for He sees something the temptation of which he could not resist.
He (Allah) would bring him near it, and when He brings him near it he would hear the voices of the inhabitants of the Paradise. He would say: O my Lord! Admit me to it. He (Allah) would say: O son of Adam, what will bring an end to your requests to Me? Will it please you if I give you the whole world and a similar one with it? He will say: O my Lord! Art Thou mocking at me, though Thou art the Lord of the worlds?
Ibn Mas'ud laughed and asked (the hearers): Why don't you ask me what I am laughing at. They (then) said: Why do you laugh? He said: It is in this way that the Messenger of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) laughed. They (the companions of the Holy Prophet) asked: Why do you laugh, Messenger of Allah? He said: On account of the laugh of the Lord of the universe, when he (the desirer of Paradise) said: Art Thou mocking at me though Thou art the Lord of the worlds? He would say: I am not mocking at you, but I have the power to do whatever I wish.
