Outlandish & Sami Yusuf "Try not to cry" 4 Children of Adam
![]() |
Desc: Song featured in Sami Yusuf's "My Ummah" album, done with english text of the lyrics.
I made this after watching Sami Yusuf and Isam on a concert together performing this song. They pointed out that this song speaks of any troubled children in the world, even if some lyrics explicitly point to the Palestinian struggle. All of the videos on this song that I saw on YouTube represent that particular struggle only. I'd like to return to the concept of the creators of the music, and try to incorporate all of the world's children's suffering-- this is my attempt at it.
Please rate it and tell me what you think-- constructive criticism is highly preferred over blind offense, and appreciation is always welcomed.
If you want to help, give your time or your earnings to causes you believe in. It's not how much you give, it's that you give.

Corcerning Music and Islam:
After searching the quran and found empty on any banning of music, I turn to Hadeeth:
Hadeeth Shahih Muslim (excerpts from www.quran.net)
Muhammad, peace be upon him allows the enjoyment of singing and musical instruments. Hence, music is not haram.
Book 004, Number 1942:
" 'A'isha reported: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) came (in my apartment) while there were two girls with me singing the song of the Battle of Bu'ath. He lay down on the bed and turned away his face. Then came Abu Bakr and he scolded me and said: Oh! this musical instrument of the devil in the house of the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him)! The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) turned towards him and said: Leave them alone. And when he (the Holy Prophet) became unattentive, I hinted them and they went out, and it was the day of 'Id and negroes were playing with shields and speare. (I do not remember) whether I asked the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) or whether he said to me if I desired to see (that sport). I said: Yes. I stood behind him with his face parallel to my face, and he said: O Banu Arfada, be busy (in your sports) till I was satiated. He said (to me): Is that enough? I said: Yes. Upon this he asked me to go."
Song/Music are just tools, like talking, that can deliver both good and evil. Talking can do a lot of harm (backbiting, gossiping), but Talking in general isn't haram - only backbiting and gossiping is haram. Music does the same, so why some people want to claim it Haram, when it is only a tool to perform good or evil. Listening to good music is like listening to talks of good and beauty of the creation of Allah, and listening to raunchy music is like listening to gossip. So claim haram to only those music that are lustful and profane, but not all music - especially good music.
Book 033, Number 6422:
"Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying. Allah fixed the very portion of adultery which a man will indulge in. There would be no escape from it. The adultery of the eye is the lustful look and the adultery of the ears is listening to voluptuous (song or talk) and the adultery of the tongue is licentious speech and the adultery of the hand is the lustful grip (embrace) and the adultery of the feet is to walk (to the place) where he intends to commit adultery and the heart yearns and desires which he may or may not put into effect."

Native Deen - Not Afraid to stand Alone

Desc: A new track from Native deen. (Final edition)
* Added Lyrics:
I am not afraid to stand alone
I am not afraid to stand alone
If Allah is by my side
I am not afraid to stand alone
Everything is gonna be alright
I am not afraid to stand alone
Going keep my head up high
I am not afraid to stand alone
If Allah is by my side
Everything is going be alright
Going to keep my head up high
Single mother raising her children
And Now she's a Muslim
Started praying and wearing a headscarf
It Was a healing for her heart
Struggling with no one to lean on
But with prayer she would be strong
Had a job but then she was laid off
Got a better education and it paid off
She was called for a job that she dreamed of
Close by, great pay -she was in love --
They brought her in -- told her shes the 1 pick
You got the job, but you gotta lose the outfit"
It's a tough position that you put me in
Cause look at my condition, and my two children
But I'll continue looking for a job again
Cause my faith and my religion I will never bend
I am not afraid to stand alone
I am not afraid to stand alone
If Allah is by my side
I am not afraid to stand alone
Everything is gonna be alright
I am not afraid to stand alone
Going keep my head up high
I am not afraid to stand alone
If Allah is by my side
Everything is going be alright
Going to keep my head up high
Peer pressure, they were insisting
And I was resisting
Some days.... I felt I would give in
Just wanted to fit in
I know.....when I'm praying and fasting'
They be teasing and laughing
So I called to my Lord for the power
For the strength every day, every hour...
one day there's a new Muslim teacher
Single mom and the people respect her
Just seeing.... her strength I get stronger
They can break my will no longer
You don't see me sweatin' when they're jokes cracking
Never see me cussing' with my pants saggin'
I aint never running Yo Im still standing,
sorry I aint jumping on your band wagon, cause...
I am not afraid to stand alone
I am not afraid to stand alone
If Allah is by my side
I am not afraid to stand alone
Everything is gonna be alright
I am not afraid to stand alone
Going keep my head up high
I am not afraid to stand alone
If Allah is by my side
Everything is going be alright
Going to keep my head up high
Now, I'm a tough one, who can bear their blows
The rest play dumb, they don't dare say no
Scared of being shunned, but its clear they know
I aint never gonna run, I aint scared no more....
Man, these sisters be resolute
Never stressed when the rest say they wasn't cute
And the get the respect of the other youth
Come best with the dress yo and thats the truth
These sisters are strong gonna hand it down
So me Im a brotha gotta stand my ground
No fear, Im tough Im the man in town
Peer pressure no more, its my planet now
Others may fall, but Im hold my own
With Allahs help I'll be strong as stone
And I'll be the one to let Al Islam be shown
Cause I am not afraid yo to stand alone
I am not afraid to stand alone
I am not afraid to stand alone
If Allah is by my side
I am not afraid to stand alone
Everything is gonna be alright
I am not afraid to stand alone
Going keep my head up high
I am not afraid to stand alone
If Allah is by my side
Everything is going be alright
Going to keep my head up high |

Life of Salihh(PBUH) Part 3 By Sheikh Awar Al-Awalaki
![]() |
Desc: They also plotted to kill Salih and his household as Almighty Allah stated: "So they ploa plot, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not." (27:50 Quran) Allah saved Salih and his followers from their wicked plans. Heavy hearted, they left the evil doers and moved to another place.
Three days after Salih's warning, thunderbolts filled the air, followed by severe earthquakes which destroyed the entire tribe and its homeland. The land was violently shaken, destroying all living creatures in it. There was one terrific cry which had hardly ended when the disbeliveers of Salih's people were struck dead, one and all, at the same time. Neither their strong buildings nor their rock hewn homes could protect them.
Allah the Exalted said: To Thamud people We sent their brother Salih. HE said: "O my people! Worship Allah, you have no other Ilah (god) but Him (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah). Indeed there has come to you a clear sign ( the miracle of the coming out of a huge she camel from the midst of a rock) from your Lord. This she camel of Allah is a sign unto you so you leave her to graze in Allah's earth, and touch her not with harm, lest a painful torment should size you. Remember when He made you successors after Ad people and gave you habitations in the land, you build for yourselves palaces in plains and carve out homes in the mountains. So remember the graces bestowed upon you from Allah, and do not go about making mischief on the earth."
the leaders of those who were arrogant among his people said to those who were counted weak to such of them as believed: "Know you that Salih is one sent from his Lord." They said: "We indeed believe in that with which he has been sent." Those who were arrogant said: "Verily, we disbelieve in that which you believe in."
So they killed the she camel and insolently defied the Commandment of their Lord, and said: "O Salih! Bring about your threats if you are indeed one of the Messengers (of Allah)." So the earthquakes seized them and they lay dead, prostrate in their homes. Then he (Salih) turned from them, and said: "O my people! I have indeed conveyed to you the Message of my Lord, and have give you good advise but you like not good advisers." (7:73-79 Quran)
All were destroyed before they realized what was happening. As for the people who believed in the message of Salih (PBUH), they were saved because they had left the place.
Ibn Umar narrated that while the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was passing by Thamud's houses on his way to the battle of Tabuk, he stopped together with the people there. the people fetched water from the wells from which the people of Thamud used to drink. They prepared their dough (for baking) and filled their water skins from it (the water from the wells). The Prophet of Allah (PBUH) ordered them to empty the water skins and give the prepared dough to the camels. Then he went away with them until they stopped at the well from which the she camel (of Salih) used to drink. He warned them against entering upon the people that had been punished, saying "I fear that you may be affected by what afflicted them; so do no enter upon them." |
The Message (Part 6) الرسالة
![]() |
Desc: 304. Abu Dharr (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) commanded me thus, "O Abu Dharr! Whenever you prepare a broth, put plenty of water in it, and and give some of it to your neighbours".
[Muslim].
In another narration of Muslim, narrated Abu Dharr (May Allah be pleased with him): My friend, (Messenger of Allah (PBUH)) advised me saying, "Whenever you prepare a broth, put plenty of water in it, and give some to your neighbours and then give them out of this with courtesy.''
Commentary: This Hadith makes it clear that Islam does not like a Muslim to ignore his poor neighbour and eat up everything himself. It stresses that one must take care of his poor neighbours. If a person is not in a position to do more, he should at least add some water in the broth he cooks for his own food and send a portion of it to his deserving neighbour. It leads us to the conclusion that a Muslim should in no case be unmindful of his neighbour and if he is well-to-do, he should be all the more charitable to his neighbours.
305. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "By Allah, he is not a believer! By Allah, he is not a believer! By Allah, he is not a believer.'' It was asked, "Who is that, O Messenger of Allah?'' He said, "One whose neighbour does not feel safe from his evil".
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Another narration of Muslim is: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "He will not enter Jannah whose neighbour is not secure from his wrongful conduct".
Commentary: This Hadith reveals that hurting or troubling a neighbour is such a serious offence that it causes Allah's Wrath, and thus punishment in Hell.
306. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "O Muslim women! No one of you should consider insignificant (a gift) to give to her neighbour even if it is (a gift of) the trotters of a sheep".
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Commentary: This Hadith means that neighbours should present gifts to each other. The rich men and the poor according to their means. One who is poor should not think that what he is presenting to his neighbour is not worthy of giving. Even his humble gift, provided it is presented with sincerity, will find acceptance with Allah. According to the Noble Qur'an: "So whosoever does good equal to the weight of an ant (or a small ant) shall see it.'' (99:7)
It is, however, better for a rich person to present a gift which goes well with his means. He should not give anything to his neighbour which is stale or which he does not like for himself because apart from insincerity, such a thing shows his contempt for the neighbour while gift is, in fact, a token of sincerity and brotherhood.
307. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "No one should prohibit his neighbour from placing a peg in his wall". Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) added: Now I see you turning away from this (Sunnah), but by Allah, I shall go on proclaiming it.
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Commentary: The importance of the injunction contained in this Hadith comes into prominence in localities comprising huts and tents, or at places where the two neighbours still have common walls between their houses. (In big cities each house has its own independent walls.) In any case, it is evident from this Hadith that a Muslim should be considerate of his neighbours. Islam ordains us to co-operate and sympathize with them. All Muslims are likened to a body each organ of which is linked with the other. In the light of this injunction, one can very well understand the rights of the neighbours in Islam.
308. Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "He who believes in Allah and the Last Day let him not harm his neighbour; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day let him show hospitality to his guest; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day let him speak good or remain silent".
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Commentary: This Hadith unfolds the fruits of Faith. One who does not have the qualities mentioned in it, is deprived of the blessings of the Faith. Faith of such a person is like a fruitless tree, or a flower without fragrance, or a body without soul. |
VERY EMOTIONAL, SURAH AL-QARIAH سورة القارعة

Desc: In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
(1. Al-Qari`ah.) (2. What is Al-Qari`ah) (3. And what will make you know what Al-Qari`ah is) (4. It is a Day whereon mankind will be like moths scattered about.) (5. And the mountains will be like wool, carded.) (6. Then as for him whose Balance will be heavy,) (7. He will live a pleasant life.) (8. But as for him whose Balance will be light,) (9. His mother will be Hawiyah.) (10. And what will make you know what it is) (11. A fire Hamiyah!)
Al-Qari`ah is one of the names of the Day of Judgement, like Al-Haqqah, At-Tammah, As-Sakhkhah, Al-Ghashiyah and other names.
Then Allah intensifies concern and fright for it by saying,
[وَمَآ أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْقَارِعَةُ ]
(And what will make you know what Al-Qari`ah is) Then He explains this by saying,
[يَوْمَ يَكُونُ النَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ الْمَبْثُوثِ ]
(It is a Day whereon mankind will be like moths scattered about.) meaning, in their scattering, their dividing, their coming and their going, all due to being bewildered at what is happening to them, they will be like scattered moths. This is like Allah's statement,
[كَأَنَّهُمْ جَرَادٌ مُّنتَشِرٌ]
(As if they were locusts spread abroad.) (54:7) Allah said,
[وَتَكُونُ الْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنفُوشِ ]
(And the mountains will be like wool, carded.) meaning, they will become like carded wool that has began to wear out (fade away) and be torn apart. Mujahid, `Ikrimah, Sa`id bin Jubayr, Al-Hasan, Qatadah, `Ata' Al-Khurasani, Ad-Dahhak and As-Suddi have all said,
[كَالْعِهْنِ]
(like wool (`Ihn). ) "Woolen.'' Then Allah informs about the results received by those who performed the deeds, and the honor and disgrace they will experience based upon their deeds. He says,
[فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَزِينُهُ ]
(Then as for him whose Balance will be heavy.) meaning, his good deeds are more than his bad deeds.
[فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ ]
(He will live a pleasant life.) meaning, in Paradise.
[وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَزِينُهُ ]
(But as for him whose Balance will be light.) meaning, his bad deeds are more than his good deeds. Then Allah says,
[فَأُمُّهُ هَاوِيَةٌ ]
(His mother will be Hawiyah.) It has been said that this means he will be falling and tumbling headfirst into the fire of Hell, and the expression `his mother' has been used to refer to his brain (as it is the mother of his head). A statement similar to this has been reported from Ibn `Abbas, `Ikrimah, Abu Salih and Qatadah. Qatadah said, "He will fall into the Hellfire on his head.'' Abu Salih made a similar statement when he said, "They will fall into the Fire on their heads.'' It has also been said that it means his mother that he will return to and end up with in the Hereafter will be Hawiyah, which is one of the names of the Hellfire. Ibn Jarir said, "Al-Hawiyah is only called his mother because he will have no other abode except for it.'' Ibn Zayd said, "Al-Hawiyah is the Fire, and it will be his mother and his abode to which he will return, and where he will be settled.'' Then he recited the Ayah,
[وَمَأْوَاهُمُ النَّارُ]
(Their abode will be the Fire.) (3:151) Ibn Abi Hatim said that it has been narrated from Qatadah that he said, "It is the Fire, and it is their abode.'' |

Israel continues to target innocent civilians in Gaza
![]() |
Desc: At least one dozen Palestinian civilians have been killed on Monday as Israeli forces pushed deeper into the Gaza Strip, medical sources say.
The latest total death count in Gaza stands at 531 people killed across 10 days, with more than 80 deaths since the ground offensive began on Saturday.
Troops, backed by air and naval support, are reported to have surrounded Gaza City.
While soldiers have been positioned on the north-south road at Netzarim, effectively splitting the besieged territory in two and blocking Palestinian supply lines.
Air raids were reported in open fields in east Jabaliya, Beit Lahiya and in the Shati refugee camp overnight and on Monday morning .
Among the dead was a family of seven at Shati refugee camp, who were killed by navy shelling off the coast of Gaza.
Three siblings from one family, as well as a girl and her grandfather, died in Zeitoun neighbourhood during artillery shelling.
Emergency medical workers attempting to reach the wounded on the frontline, themselves become targets when an Israeli air raid killed four paramedics on Sunday. Ambulances have also been hit in the attacks, Palestinian sources said.
Witnesses in eastern Gaza told Al Jazeera that soldiers had carried out house to house raids in some urban areas.
Israeli government officials say they are not targeting civilians, only seeking to halt rocket fire from the Palestinian Hamas movement governing Gaza.
However, Mahmoud Zahar, a senior Hamas official, said the group was heading for "victory" against the Israeli military.
He said that Hamas's armed wing, the Izz-e-din al-Qassam Brigades, had "given the most beautiful performances during its confrontation with the army that the world thought invincible".
"They have legitimised the murder of their own children by killing the children of Palestine," Zahar said.
"They have legitimised the destruction of their synagogues and their schools by hitting our mosques and our schools."
Palestinian factions have continued to launch rockets into southern Israel, despite more than a week of aerial bombardment by Israel and the ground offensive.
One Israeli soldier has been confirmed killed in the Gaza assault so far, with at least 49 others wounded. Four Israelis have also been killed by Palestinian rockets.
The International Red Cross and world leaders have appealed to both Israel and Hamas to stop targeting civilians and work to restore a ceasefire.
On the diplomatic front, a Hamas official said a delegation would head to Cairo on Monday, "answering an Egyptian invitation to hold discussions" on a ceasefire.
The talks are set to coincide with the arrival of Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president, in the region, to push for a European-backed ceasefire.
The UN Security Council is also set to meet on Monday to discuss the crisis following an emergency session on Sunday that failed to produce a resolution or even a statement calling for a halt to the fighting.
Israel's ground offensive launched on Saturday followed eight days of intense bombardment of the Gaza Strip, purportedly aimed at ending cross-border rockets being fired by Hamas fighters from the territory into southern Israel.
Fears of a humanitarian crisis have also grown in recent days, as the strip, home to 1.5 million people, is already suffering shortages of fuel, food and medical supplies due to a two-year economic blockade imposed by Israel.
The International Committee for the Red Cross said on Sunday its medical emergency team had been prevented for a third day from entering the territory.
Egypt has also completely closed the Rafah crossing, cutting off aid supplies to the territory. |

Few Surprise Waiting For Israel in Gaza
![]() |
Desc: Why Invade Gaza?
Jeff Glor speaks with David Schenker, director of the Program on Arab Politics for the Washington Institute, about the reasons behind the Isreali ground invasion of the Gaza Strip.
Hamas, the Palestinian political movement that controls Gaza, rose to international prominence following its armed campaign against Israel during the second intifada, or uprising, which began in 2000.
The organisation, founded in 1987 as an offshoot of the pan-Arab Muslim Brotherhood movement, had already achieved widespread popularity in the Palestinian territories for its resistance to the Israeli military occupation and for its social programmes.
The pinnacle of that popularity came in January 2006, when the movement won a stunning victory in the Palestinian parliamentary elections.
But the years since then, marked by a crippling international embargo, internal conflict with rivals Fatah, and Israeli attacks on its members, have proved a testing time for the organisation.
And with Israel launching the bloodiest raids into Gaza in decades, the group faces an uncertain future.
Hamas, which stands for Islamic Resistance Movement, and also means 'zeal' in Arabic, was founded at the beginning of the first intifada by the religious leader Sheikh Ahmed Yassin.
The movement's main goal is to end the Israeli military occupation of the West Bank and Gaza but its charter states its long term aim is the creation a Palestinian state on what was called Palestine before the creation of Israel in 1948.
It built its popularity on providing support to impoverished Palestinians by constructing schools, hospitals and religious centres.
Unlike many other Palestinian political movements, Hamas has rejected membership of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation, calling for its restructuring, and has opposed signing peace agreements with Israel, although it has offered Israel a number of fixed-term truces.
Israel has assassinated several of the group's prominent leaders, most notably Sheikh Yassin in 2004, and Abdul Aziz al-Rantissi, the movement's leader in its stronghold of Gaza, only a few weeks later
Sheikh Yassin, already confined to a wheelchair at the time of his death, had been revered by many Palestinians for his calls for armed struggle and uncompromising views regarding Israel.
Ismail Haniya, the movement's senior figure in Gaza and the deposed prime minister, was a close associate of Sheikh Yassin and once ran his office.
Khalid Meshaal, currently exiled in Syria, has also been a senior political leader of Hamas, since 1995, following the arrest and jailing of Mussa Abu Marzouq, the former Hamas political leader.
Meshaal had led the Kuwait chapter of the organisation, but left the country when Iraq invaded in 1990.
He moved to the Jordanian capital, Amman, where he became head of Hamas and was subject to a failed assassination attempt by Israel.
Hamas is reported to be funded by donations from Palestinian supporters both inside and outside the territories, other Arabs and also the Iranian government.
Its military wing, the Ezzedine al- Qassam Brigades, which is believed to have several thousand members, has also carried out some of the bloodiest attacks in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The Brigades, along with other Palestinian armed groups, have carried out sustained rocket attacks on Israeli towns in the south of the country, often in response to Israeli strikes on Gaza.
Hamas bolstered its reputation in the 1990s by its efforts to keep order in the often troubled Gaza Strip - something that won it the respect of those who would not normally ally itself with the movement.
While the Islamic religion is a key part of Hamas's platform, Palestinian Christians and others have become involved in the organisation.
The movement took a tough stance on corruption - a charge often levelled at its Fatah rivals.
But it also became known for its suicide attacks on Israel, the first of which was carried out in 1994.
When peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians broke down once again in 2000, Hamas joined other Palestinian political and armed groups in the second intifada against Israel.
That was marked by a campaign of civil disobedience by Palestinians in the occupied territories, together with an increase in suicide attacks on Israel, often in response to Israeli attacks in the West Bank and Gaza.
Hamas had boycotted elections to the Palestinian Authority, as it was a product of the 1993 Oslo peace process, which the group opposed.
But as the second intifada wore on and the Palestinian Authority became weaker in the face of the Israeli military occupation, Hamas decided to participate in Palestinian parliamentary elections in 2006.
The massive assault promises to be one the biggest tests Hamas has faced in its 21-year history. |
