The Mysteries of the Bible: Banned from the Bible 2 of 10
![]() |
Desc: The Bible has historically been a static piece of literature having no changes made to it for centuries. This is not the origin of this book. Those who say that God has made this one document for the betterment of humanity do so without a historical context. The contents of the bible have been argued over more than one time. Several books considered cannon at one time are now not considered valid in certain versions of the book. The same is true of several books considered noncannonical are now found in many bibles. My hope is that those who consider this book to be of divine or sacred origin ought to rethink their view. They ought to answer the question: when did this book become sacred or complete or both? Why do believers trust ancient scholars whom they would not likely believe today, given what humanity knows now that was unknown then? This documentary tells us that believers will follow whatever is generally accepted and they won't follow truth. |

Berio : Omaggio a Joyce
![]() |
Desc: From 1958. Based on the beginning of Chapter XI of Joyce's Ulysses. It was not Berio's intention to mix up literature and music, but he wanted to create, as he said, "continuity between them, to make possible an imperceptible transition from the one to the other". As Chapter XI begins with an onomatopoetic passage ('Bronze by gold heard the hoofirons, steelyringing Imperthnthn, thnthnthn...'), it was possible for Berio to enable "the worlds to assimilate the musical facts completely and to cause them at the same time". To transform the material in a musical sense, the different words were treated following terms as glissando, staccato, tremolo, etc. Moreover the words are spread in a polyphonic way, with "changements from one language to the other" which strengthens a purely musical perception of language. To this 'texture'some electronic sounds (complex tones and coloured noise) were added.
Quotes Berio from his description of Omaggio : Musik und Dichtung-eine Erfahrung. In : Darmstädter Beiträge zur neuen Musik II, Mainz 1959, p.39 etc. |

Painted Skin 画皮 画心

Desc: Based upon the classic literature of Liao Zai, Painted Skin is an adaptation of one of the stories that dwell on fox spirits. If you're someone expecting either a supernatural spook fest, or an amalgamation of ghosts and kung fu, you might be disappointed to find out that it's actually a romance through and through, with complicated relationships all around that you can weave a complex web of love and lust amongst the players involved. |

You'll also see some clips from when I met Sandman's creator, Neil Gaiman, at a book signing. Including the geeky fanboy question I asked him (sub-titled, since you can't really hear what I'm saying - but you can hear his response just fine).
