White Noise- Don Delillo
![]() |
Desc: This video is what I created for an assignment in my contemporary American literature class in response to reading Don DeLillo's novel White Noise. The many themes of the novel center around the ways in which we have allowed technology, television, and the media to take control of our lives. I selected a quote from the novel and used it as my main theme, as well as using quotes in the novel that come from the every day "White Noise" that we get from the TVs, radios, and magazines. The overload of information we receive, the way we are told to follow a certain lifestyle, this video is a collection of clips that I believe will show the ways in which our lives are being run by white noise today.
"This is the language of waves and radiation, or how the dead speak to the living. And this is where we wait together, regardless of age, our carts stocked with brightly colored goods. A slowly moving line, satisfying, giving us time to glance at the tabloids in the racks. The tales of the supernatural and extraterrestrial. The miracle vitamins, the cures for cancer, the remedies for obesity. The cults of the famous and dead."- Don DeLillo's "White Noise" |
1923 Delco Light 2 1/2hp Engine model 6005
![]() |
Desc: This is referred to as the model 6005 in my literature. This is a factory belt work only engine. It never had a generator end attached, and were limited in production. Also rare as it does not use a battery for ignition. It has a flywheel magneto like a Briggs engine. The only other model like this to use flywheel ignition is the Model 1275Light plant and the Model 302. This is a original that I just put new rings in. It is red indicating that it had been returned to Delco for a rebuild at some point. Orginal color would have been black |

THE LAST MITTERRAND PART1
![]() |
Desc: The last mitterrand dramatizes the last years of a political leadership and a private life;that of Francois Mitterrand. As the president engages in his final battle with illness,a dedicated young journalist tries to extract from him some universal lessons on politics and history, love and literature and the certainties of life. But the old man hardly has any to give because for him, this is the moment when all time, past, present and future, blends into one;the time when only doubt remains, the time when all men are equal;the moment of the nearness of death.

A Walk from Leytonstone to Mayfair
![]() |
Desc: camcorder document of a walk I took in June 07 from Leytonstone to Mayfair in central London via Kings Cross and Islington. This was probably not the shortest route but I had intended to end my journey at Housman's bookshop but the psychogeographical literature I found there inspired me to push on till sunset |
