Watchers Movie Review

The Lost Continent- Unity's Whorishness

Desc: THE LOST CONTINENT is a 1968 film adaptation of Dennis Wheatley's novel UNCHARTED SEAS. It was Hammer's most expensive film to date but is also no doubt the weirdest, most off the wall feature ever to come out of Hammer Studios (along with the ridiculous LEGEND OF THE 7 GOLDEN VAMPIRES, of course). Its got bloody mutiny, killer crustaceans, man eating seaweed, explosive chemicals, fanatical Spanish inquisitors who look like Klansmen and music that sounds like its right out of an early 70s porno. From its opening credit sequence which must be seen to be believed to its explosive finale, it never stops in its endless quest to entertain by barraging the viewer with lunacy after lunacy, chucked at you with all the subtlety of a fabled automobile-sized hailstone.
This sequence is a good example. Here God sends a giant cephalopod to punish Unity (Suzanna Leigh) for being a naughty whore. |
