Jim Croce - Photographs & Memories (Covers SLD)

Desc: I make this video is for my Yahoo! 360 Blog, My favourite music, My music world ... A Tribute to Jim Croce ... Jim Croce (Jan 10, 1943 - Sep 20, 1973) Croce, 30, and Muehleisen, 24, died in a small commercial plane crash on September 20, 1973, one day before his third ABC album, I Got a Name was to be released. The posthumous release included three hits, "I Got A Name," "Workin' At The Car Wash Blues" and "I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song." Croce had just completed a concert in Natchitoches, Louisiana, and was flying to Sherman, Texas. The pilot and all passengers (Croce, Muehleisen, and the comic who was the show's warm up act) were killed instantly at 10:45 PM EST on September 20, 1973, less than an hour after the end of their last concert. Upon takeoff, the plane did not gain enough altitude to clear an area of large pecan trees at the end of the runway. The official report from the NTSB hints that the charter pilot, Robert Newton Elliott, who had severe coronary artery disease and had run a portion of the 3 miles to the airport from a motel, may have suffered a heart attack causing him to crash into the trees on a clear runway with excellent visibility. A later investigation placed sole blame for the accident on pilot error. Croce was laid to rest in the Philadelphia area, even though he had recently relocated to San Diego. Family, friends, and fans were stunned to learn of the premature death of the two musicians. Jim's personal motto: "If you dig it, do it. If you really dig it, do it twice." ... Rest in Peace ... Dear Jim! Artist: Jim Croce Album: Photographs & Memories His Greatest Hits Song: Photographs & Memories Photographs and memories Christmas cards you sent to me All that I have are these to remember you Memories that come at night Take me to another time Back to a happier day, When I called you mine But we sure had a good time When we started way back when Morning walks and bedroom talks Oh, how I loved you then Summer skies and lullabies Nights we couldn't say goodbye And of all of the things that we knew Not a dream survived Photographs and memories All the love you gave to me Somehow it just can't be true It's all I've left of you But we sure had a good time When we started way back when Morning walks and bedroom talks Oh, how I loved you then *

Britney Spears Photographs Mural And Curses Paparazzi

Desc: Britney Spears stops to take snapshots of a mural she spies while driving by, but has trouble in getting a good shot because all the paps keep jumping in front of her to a take a picture of her! "I'm a person, just like you!" she yells, as well as a bit of cursing because of all the flashing going off makes it difficult for Brit Brit to even see the mural. At one point, she gets so mad, she throws her camera down, and the paps have to help her find her memory stick that popped out in the process. At first, she accuses them of actually taking the memory stick, but when it is found on the ground and returned to her, Britney gets her smile back.

Using Photographs to Enhance Videos of a Static Scene

Desc: The work presents a system for automatically producing a wide variety of video enhancements and visual effects. Unlike traditional visual effects software (e.g., After Effects, Shake, Boujou, etc), the system is completely automatic and no manual labor is required from the user. The major limitation of the work is that it can currently handle only videos of static scenes (i.e., videos shot with a moving camera but containing no moving objects in the scene). Efforts are being made to lift this restriction in future work. Applications of the system include: High resolution/definition video, High dynamic range video, Removing objects from a video, Creating painterly (NPR) videos, Video stabilization, Easy video editing Project website: http://grail.cs.washington.edu/projects/videoenhancement/videoEnhancement.htm

William Eggleston: Democratic Camera, Photographs and Video, 1961-2008

Desc: This candid interview with photographer William Eggleston was conducted by film director Michael Almereyda on the occasion of the opening of Eggleston's retrospective William Eggleston: Democratic Camera, Photographs and Video, 1961-2008 at the Whitney Museum of American Art. A key figure in American photography, Eggleston is credited almost single-handedly with ushering in the era of color photography. Eggleston discusses his shift from black and white to color photography in this video as, "it never was a conscious thing. I had wanted to see a lot of things in color because the world is in color". Also included in this video are Eggleston's remarks about his personal relationships with the subjects of many of his photographs. Michael Almereyda is director of the film William Eggleston and the Real World (2005).

Marilyn Monroe: More than you know Photographs by Mary Ann Lynch

Desc: TCC PHOTO | GALLERY Announces Marilyn Monroe Multimedia Piece Debuts on YouTube ! MARILYN MONROE: MORE THAN YOU KNOW Behind the scenes with Mary Ann Lynch, photographer Gene Brown, author and film historian produced by Tammy Cromer-Campbell A multimedia look at the Marilyn Monroe global culture, based on Mary Ann Lynch's original photographs throughout the world, 1990 to 2005 (and continuing. . .) Longview, TX, December 19, 2008 - Right in time for the holidays, we at TCC PHOTO | GALLERY are pleased to announce the YouTube debut of our just completed, ten-minute multimedia look at Marilyn Monroe. It is based on the photography of Mary Ann Lynch, New York-based photographer, writer, and filmmaker, whose "Marilyn Monroe: More Than You Know" photography exhibit of more than three dozen images is on exhibit at TCC PHOTO | GALLERY through January 2009 and after than, available for viewing at the gallery website: http://www.tccphotogallery.com Here is the direct link to the youtube piece: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4rQL4IGhYE The exhibit release is available at: http://tccphoto.com/gallery/newsroom.html Purchase safely and securely online 24/7, we take most major credit cards. Go to http://www.tccphotogallery.com Lynch along with film historian and author Gene Brown provide commentary and anecdotes in voiceover as we move from one stunning photograph to another, from a street mural in Hollywood, to the California desert where Dixie Evans, "the Marilyn Monroe of Burlesque" (and now 82, the same age Marilyn would have been) runs The Museum of Burlesque. Lynch finds compelling Marilyn "sightings" everywhere: Munich, Paris, Barcelona, Equador, Mexico, Wales and other places. . .as well as throughout the United States. By the way: Elvis Presley, and even his Mom Gladys have cameos. Lynch's photographs, and the commentary in the multimedia piece raise the question of the reasons for Marilyn's continuing influence today, forty-six years after her death in 1962. Gene Brown notes: "What Mary Ann's photographs are really about is us, they're about the audience, and the way we perceive Marilyn and her place in our lives." They also point to Marilyn's  positive influence on our culture today, (in as many ways as there are people who love, honor, revere, imitate, and display her image. "There's every reason to believe Marilyn will make it into the next millennium with us,"  says Lynch. "I realized after I had been photographing (Marilyn) in several different countries that I could go anywhere and hold up a Marilyn Monroe photograph and get a smile. She's a global ambassador of love." Lynch views the omnipresent legend and female icon as offering our jaded society a bit of the ancient goddesses, whose sexuality was viewed as powerful, yes, but also as sacred -- not profane. "Marilyn is a modern-day Aphrodite or Venus. Our one and only. Those who try to measure up to her are poor imitations of the real thing." Lynch's aim with her ever-expanding Marilyn work is to offer a provocative new perspective on the world's most popular female Hollywood icon. Gallery owner Cromer-Campbell (a photographer herself), who has spent time with both Lynch's photographs and gallery visitors, says of the exhibit:  "Mary Ann's  photographs show us how much Marilyn herself gave to the camera, and her dramatic range: She worked every inch of herself: from the tilt of her head, to the expression on her face, the placement of her hands and even the angle of her toes. Marilyn gave herself totally. What else I found fascinating is that those who come to look, and to sometimes purchase a photograph they fall in love with in, include fans of all ages. The other day, a mother and daughter came in and it was the daughter in her twenties that was the adoring fan."   The gallery is open Monday - Friday, 11am - 6pm and by appointment.
